Today I accidentally landed on
PolITiGenomics blog maintained by David Dooling. David is working at the Genome Center at Washington University in St. Louis. Here is a fantastic talk about
next-generation sequencing informatics given by David during Advances in Genome Biology and Technology (AGBT) meeting. Presentation describes how we can deal with different issues associated with high throughput sequencing process such as
- Rapid increase in amount of sequence data overshadowing increase in the computational and storage capacity
- Different perspective, particularly LIMS Perspective (databases, schema, processing pipelines, sample tracking) , Analyst perceptive (Sample annotation pipeline and others)
- Changing pipeline due to variety of sequencers, primary analysis methods (LIMS perspective) and large no of software tools for job specific requirements (Analysis perspective)
Overall this is an excellent and diverse presentation for any informatics professional working around LIMS.
