And this years Nobel Prize in Physics goes to Charles K. Kao for groundbreaking achievements concerning the transmission of light in fibers for optical communication and Bell Labs duo Willard S. Boyle and George E. Smith for their invention of the CCD sensor. So to those who say Bell Labs is dead talk to it’s ghost which brings glory above life itself. Ironically a Company which has produced 7 Nobel Prizes in Physics shared by 13 scientists had pulled out of basic science and most importantly closed it’s fundamental physics research lab. What we can say: Long live Bell Labs!
